VOCABULARY


Maid: a female servant.
Busy: full of work
Butler: the chief male servant of a household
Wool: the fine, soft, curly hair that forms the fleece of some animals, esp. sheep.
Court: a place where legal justice is administered
Punishments: a penalty assigned to or imposed for an offense or fault
Hanged:to kill by suspending (someone) by the neck from a rope
Trial: the examination of the facts of a case before a court of law, involving hearing evidence and deciding on a person's guilt or innocence
Courtroom: a room in which the sessions of a law court are held
Rings: a usually thin, circular band of strong material, such as gold, worn on the finger as an ornament
Mud: wet, soft dirt
Housekeeper: a person, often hired, who does housekeeping for a home.
Rising: advancing, ascending, or mounting
Tarch: a white, tasteless chemical substance in plants, forming an important component of rice, corn, wheat, and many other vegetable foods
Mangle: to injure severely or mutilate by cutting, tearing, or crushing
Dragged: to pull slowly and with effort;

Teaspoon: a small spoon used to stir tea and coffee, eat dessert, etc.

Portrait:a representation of a person, esp. of the face

Murderer: the unlawful killing of a person, esp. when done deliberately
Mugger: a person who mugs, esp. one who assaults a person in order to rob him or her.
Burglar: one who commits burglary.
Hooligans: a ruffian or hoodlum.
Hijackers: to seize (an airplane or other vehicle) by threat or by force, esp. for ransom or political aims
Handcuffs: a metal ring that can be locked around a prisoner's wrist, usually one of a pair connected by  a chain or bar.
Pickpocket: one who steals from the pockets of people, as in a crowded public place

Injured: to do or cause harm of any kind to damage.
Ripple: to form small waves or undulations on; agitate lightly.
Canned food: preserved in a can or jar
Pantry: a small room near a kitchen, in which food, dishes, etc., are kept.
Windshiel: a shield of glass above the dashboard of an automobile.
Hazards: something causing danger, peril, risk, or difficulty
Spread: to extend out; move apart
Roof: the outside, upper covering of a building.
Aid:help or support; assistance
Shelter: something beneath, behind, or within which one is protected, as from storms, cold, danger,etc.
Bustling: (of a place) full of people
Ash:(pieces of) the gray or black powdery matter that remains after burning
Stranded: to leave in a helpless position
Dependable: worthy of trust; reliable
